dennisummers@yahoo.co.uk I was born in the Falklands, and was brought up at North Arm. I went to Darwin Boarding School in 1964 and left in 1971. I crossed Bodie Creek Bridge many times during that time and for many years after, untill it was deemed dangerous for public use.

That's OK Trevor. Thanks for the feedback and the lovely photos you sent me.

I have had a great response from a lot of people since publishing this website, and a number of people have sent me beautiful pictures from their visits to the bridge. I'd like to say thanks to all of you.

trevor.hoy@btinternet.com Sorry Steve, In my email I called you peter, not realising that it was your surname. I visited it in November 2010. Since the bridge closed, the tracks to the bridge have succumbed to the wildlife, which does add to the experience of visiting it

dwbetts@horizon.co.fk a wonderful bit of engineering this bridge, I first crossed it in 1979 and many time after that traveling between Goose Green and North Arm, both on Motor Bike or in a Land Rover, how sad it is today to see falling down and unused.

davegriff@yahoo.com Great site brought back memeories, i drove accross the bridge in 1987 in a 1 tonne Landrover, yes it was a very sharp right hand turn to get onto the bridge and there was only a few inches to spare each side of the vehicle. Wonderful bridge, I tell everyone about it.
bristol clifton suspension bridge is awesome aswell.
Thanks for the memories, can't believe you haven't gone to visit it. I think I may have some photos of us on it back in 1987, I'll have a look next time I get home.

sop04015a@hebrides.net hi,i was a shepherd in Lafonia in the 60s&70s,ive had
many a crossing,in all weathers,mainly onhorseback.
It is a shame that it is going down hill, the Falkands
have plenty of money,it could be fixed.Best of luck
with your project,cheers.

drtaylor44@hotmail.com Hello,

I worked at Goose Green for 6 months in 2002 as a gap year student and I thought you should know your grandfather's bridge is good and well and, while no longer in common usage, regularly supports quads and people. I have a photo of my friend climbing one of the rope supports which you may find interesting. I'll email it if I find it.

Seeing the most southerly suspension bridge in the world is a claim not many can make, and I'm rightly proud :)

Kind regards,
Duncan

Talitha.Webb@ntlworld.com In November 1996,my company sent me to MPA for 6 months to run a team of fire alarm installers.I brought an old rover and explored. I was truly gob smacked when I found this bridge by chance. It is such an amazing piece of structural engineering in the middle of nowhere, and thanks to you site I've been able to see just how amazing and unlikely it really is.
Truly,I thank you for answering so many questions that I had.

What a great piece of history and so well presented. It is a pleasure to look at such a well laid out and informative website.

We have visited the Bridge on several occasions and never cease to be amazed at the sight of this lovely piece of engineering. It is a great shame that it seems to be going the way of most of the 'industrial architecture' of the Falklands. Perhaps we should start a pressure group - SOB - Save Our Bridge!

bugs.king@horizon.co.fk A great piece of work, well done! I used to drive vehicles and mororbikes across the bridge regularly going to and from Walker Creek from 1991 until it closed. We even sneaked bikes on their side under the welded on bar and used it after it was closed !!

audrey@bethere.co.uk I have thoroughly enjoyed looking at your webpage Steve. It is amazing to see all those wonderful photographs of your grandad's bridge, and see the different stages of it being built. All the photographs, links and your narrative bring the whole thing to life. It is really great!

http://www.bravedragon.com Steve, congratulations! You finally made it! Excellent site, great design, great pictures and of course lots of Stephenesque humour... We should give the idea of founding a Bridge Owners' Club a go then.
Cheers,
Mario

evansandrew@mac.com Hey Stephen,
Great site, very interesting, a lot of work in there. Photos amazing quality for 80 years old. You should get yourself down to the Falklands before the bridge gives up and swims off.
Cheers,
Andrew
PS: I won't subedit the text because there's no errors of any importance anyway!
