Welcome
My name is Stephen Peters, and this is my website.
It contains a very personal perspective on the building of a bridge I have never seen on a distant island I have never visited. The bridge is the Bodie Creek Suspension Bridge near Goose Green in the Falkland Islands.
You see, my grandfather, Charles Peters, was the Chief Engineer responsible for building this bridge, and also for building the sheep shearing sheds at Goose Green. My father was born there while these projects were being planned and was brought up in Goose Green and Stanley.
The information in this site comes from mainly stories he has told me plus some information I have discovered elsewhere on the Internet, and is illustrated with photographs from a battered old family photograph album. I treasure it and I hope it will be of some interest to you.
